University of Port Harcourt of (UniPort) Leads Transformative Dialogue at the 21st RUFORUM Annual General Meeting at Botswana.

Held at Gaborone, Botswana at the Gaborone International Conference Centre (GICC) from December 1– 5, 2025 was the 21st Annual General Meeting of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM). Of course, the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort), together with its consortium partners under the TAGDev 2.0 Program, proudly participated in the AGM.

Highlights from the AGM included:
1. Vice Chancellor’s Forum, Dean & DVC Meetings, fostering cross‑institutional research networks and joint degree programmes.
2. TAGDev 2.0 Annual Planning, Review and Committee Meetings.
3. High‑Level Dialogues on Transformative Leadership for Vice‑Chancellors, Deputy Vice‑Chancellors, Deans, and Principal Officers of African universities and TVET institutions.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEL) Impact and communication training, sharpening data‑driven decision‑making and impact communication.
5. Strategic Policy Sessions, addressing integration of gender inclusion, safeguarding, climate change, and sustainable agriculture into university curricula and research.
6. Finance Management for Higher Education Collaboratives workshop – equipping institutions with tools for resilient budgeting and partnership financing.
6. Multiple Capacity‑Building Trainings, covering key areas such as climate‑smart agriculture, digital innovation, and entrepreneurial incubation.
7. Gala/Dinner, a celebratory evening for participants to strengthen ties and share visions.

The AGM concluded on 4th December 2025 with remarks from RUFORUM leadership, appreciation for host country (Botswana), and a forward‑looking statement from RUFORUM Board ahead of the 22nd RUFORUM AGM to be hosted by Zambia.

The University of Port Harcourt extends heartfelt congratulations to RUFORUM and all its partners for a successful AGM and looks forward to the 2026 AGM.
