TAGDev 2.0 Program, UniPort Joins RUFORUM Delegation on Strategic Courtesy Visit to National Universities Commission (NUC) 🇳🇬

Yesterday, on the sidelines of the 9th Africa Agriculture Science Week (AASW9) and 10th FARA General Assembly, the TAGDev 2.0 Program, University of Port Harcourt, joined the RUFORUM delegation on a high-level courtesy visit to the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The delegation, led by the Executive Secretary of RUFORUM, Prof. Patrick Okori, included members of the Association of Deans of Agriculture of Nigerian Universities (ADAN) and the TAGDev 2.0 Program, University of Port Harcourt. They were received by the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.

Discussions centered on strengthening agricultural education in Nigerian universities through curriculum review and innovation, promoting value-added research, enhancing entrepreneurship training and support for students, and building the capacity of academic staff.

The Coordinator of the TAGDev 2.0 Program at the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Ibisime Etela briefed the NUC Executive Secretary on the impact of the TAGDev 2.0 Program in Nigeria, particularly in strengthening agripreneurship, providing students scholarships, supporting student enterprises, enhancing practical agricultural training in rice and aquaculture value chain and, fostering university-community linkages.

In his response, Prof. Ribadu reaffirmed NUC’s commitment to working closely with RUFORUM and its network, including the TAGDev 2.0 Program, to drive innovation and strengthen agricultural education in support of Nigeria’s national development agenda.
