Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) Executive Mission to University of Port Harcourt: Advancing TAGDev 2.0.

Day 2
Tuesday, July 22, 2025 commenced with a Courtesy Call on the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill followed by his opening remarks and the official opening of the dialogue. This was followed by remarks by Prof. Okori and goodwill messages from the principal officers of the University of Port Harcourt and partners from government, private sector, and academia gathered to discuss how universities can act as development facilitators. Day Two focused on Transformative Education – From Conceptualization to Delivery for Impact facilitated by Prof. Okori and Prof. Egeru with emphasis on:
✅ Strategic repositioning of universities for Africa’s development;
✅ The Land Grant model and its relevance for African universities;
✅ Transformative education under TAGDev 2.0 and the barriers and opportunities peculiar to UniPort. The impactful discussions and brainstorming sessions focused on shaping a new narrative for university-based innovation and community engagement.
The day ended with the Vice Chancellor hosting the teams from RUFORUM and TAGDev 2.0 with partners to a cocktail and a brief tour of the University of Port Harcourt to the 10.7MW Solar Farm.
