Faculty of Agriculture Sensitisation on TAGDev 2.0 Programme at the University of Port Harcourt (UniPort), Nigeria.
As part of planned effort to fully implement the TAGDev 2.0 Programme in the University of Port Harcourt, the academic and non-academic staff of the Faculty of Agriculture participated in a sensitisation workshop organized by the TAGDev 2.0 Programme at the University of Port Harcourt. The workshop, which was held on Tuesday, 20th May 2025 at the Faculty of Agriculture Board Room was chaired by the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Udensi E. Udensi, who was ably represented by the Associate Dean, Dr. Victor Wabali. The sensitisation was aimed at further enlightening faculty members and staff on the scope of the Programme and available opportunities where staff with the requisite expertise can contribute to the success of the Programme.
During the workshop, the TAGDev 2.0 Programme Coordinator at UniPort, Prof. Ibisime Etela, enlightened participants on the key roles they are expected to play to transform the University of Port Harcourt and its partners to meaningfully contribute to African’s growth and development. Prof. Etela highlighted the direct and indirect target deliverables of the 10-Year Programme (2023-2033).
The programme directly targets to:
1. train Bachelors students;
2. train Masters students;
3. empower Out-of-School youths;
4. empower TVET students;
5. enable farmers and rice value chain actors;
6. enable dignified and fulfilling jobs;
7. facilitate enterprises, and
8. support efforts to plant trees.
At least, 70% of the participants shall be females, 10% persons with disabilities, and 25% refugees and displaced persons living in Nigeria.
The scholarship scheme under TAGDev 2.0 Programme at UniPort is open to both female and male applicants.
Applications from females, refugees, internally displaced persons, and persons with disabilities or differently abled persons are highly encouraged. New deadline for scholarship application: 31 May 2025.
Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development, phase 2.0 (TAGDev 2.0) Programme is an institutional grant being implemented by 12 African Universities including the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria and coordinated by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM ) in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, and the @Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA).
